Welcome to CamperGate 🚐
Welcome to CamperGate! This blog is about the world of motorhome and campervan travel and, above all, about running motorhome sites and aires in a modern way, with a practical, down-to-earth focus: what the people who manage them every day actually need.
Touring holidays are big business in the UK. The UK Caravan & Camping Alliance's Pitching the Value report, published in 2024, put visitor spending linked to holiday parks and campsites at £12.2 billion a year, supporting around 226,745 full-time jobs across the UK (National Caravan Council). The same research found that these visitors stay longer and spend more than the average tourist.
And the motorhome market is holding up well. According to European Caravan Federation figures reported by RV PRO, around 16,700 new motorhomes were registered in the UK in 2025, up about 1.3% on 2024, even as the wider leisure vehicle market slipped.
In plain terms: more motorhomes on the road, and more people touring outside the summer holidays. Which makes good places to stop more important than ever, for local communities and for the people who run them.
Why this blog
Running a motorhome site today is much more than "opening and closing a barrier": there are arrivals, payments, receipts, services, paperwork, keeping an eye on how long people stay, seasonality and a hundred questions a day.
This blog aims to be a useful space for site owners and managers, where you'll find:
- practical tips to make day-to-day running easier
- rules and regulations explained in plain English
- real trends in the sector (the ones that work on the ground)
- stories of sites that have made smart decisions
All with one clear goal: less theory, more solutions you can put to work straight away.
The experience we bring, alongside site owners
CamperGate wasn't dreamt up in an office. It has grown side by side with our customers, one site at a time.
Over the years we've worked with very different operators: small family-run sites, seasonal sites in tourist hotspots, larger sites with lots of pitches and full facilities. And every time we've done the same thing: watched, listened, understood the real problems and built simpler, lighter ways of working.
Because no two sites are the same:
- some have 8 pitches in the hills, others have 70 by the sea,
- some are open all year, others are flat out only in summer,
- some want the bare essentials, others are aiming for "premium" services.
That's where CamperGate's value lies: software designed with site owners and for site owners, improved constantly by the people who use it for real.
Every new need that comes up at one site becomes an improvement for all the others. That's how the platform stays up to date: not by chasing fashions, but by solving real problems.
Our mission
CamperGate's mission is simple and practical: make life easier for site owners and put technology within everyone's reach.
Because going digital today isn't "a luxury" reserved for big holiday parks. It's a smart move for small and medium-sized sites too, especially if you want to:
- stop handling cash and wasting time on manual payments
- manage arrivals and payments without someone on the gate all day
- cut mistakes and paperwork
- have clear figures on occupancy and how your site is performing
- make the site safer and better organised
In short: technology should take the boring work off your plate, not add to it. So you can focus on welcoming guests and on the quality of your site.
And yes: our aim is to keep all of this simple, accessible and fairly priced, because innovation should be for everyone, not just the few.
What you'll find here
In the coming articles we'll cover very practical topics, such as:
- how to fill more pitches in the low season (without giving them away)
- automating access: when it really pays and how to do it properly
- real examples of sites that have gone digital and grown
- the services that make a difference to motorhomers today
- planning, site licensing and other rules explained in plain words (bearing in mind that England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland don't always do things the same way)
If you want to get started right now, here are two good places to begin: how to start a motorhome site and motorhome site regulations in the UK.
The goal is simple: to give you useful, practical ideas you can apply to your site straight away.
In a nutshell
This blog is for anyone who wants a site that's better organised, more efficient and more profitable… without making life complicated.
If you run a site, are thinking of opening one, or simply want to understand how to make yours work better, you're in the right place.
See you soon on CamperGate! 🚐🌍
